74 Seats demanded for woman: Imo NAWOJ partners NILOWV, inaugurates 10-man committee to drive course

The Imo State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, in collaboration with Legeau of Women Voters of Nigeria, NILOWV, has inaugurated a 10-man Committee to champion the course of achieving the 74 Seats demanded for women at the National Assembly.

The committee which was set up on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the NAWOJ office, NUJ Press Center in Owerri, Imo State capital, have five persons from each of the bodies.

For NAWOJ we have: Chizoba Opara, Gloria Owuamalam, Chinonye Nwadike, Uche Ogbonna, and Lorrita Arinze Egwim.

NILOWV have: Dr. Uche Opara, Ewa Joy Nkechi, Oguoma Patience, Barr. Chioma Dimgba, and Chief Mrs Agwajimma Nwachukwu.

The committee is to be Chaired by Dr. Uche Opara of NILOWV, while Mrs Chizoba Opara of NAWOJ is the Secretary.

According to NAWOJ Chairperson, Dr Dorothy Nnaji, the committee is poised with the responsibility of meeting and agreeing on a date for the launching of the Awareness Campaign of the aforementioned demands in the State.

After the launching, they are to move to the grassroot to begin sensitizing the people on the need to support actualization of such call.

The committee is to champion the course, map out strategies; financially and otherwise to drive the movement,’Nnaji asserted’.

Addressing the committee members after their inauguration was the Chairperson of NILOWV, Hon. Barr. Nnenna Aladum.

She congratulated and commended the people for availing themselves for such task which she described as a noble course.

She reiterated all that the NAWOJ Chairperson has said, and further charged the committee members to endeavor to be committed in ensuring that the essence of their inauguration was not defeated.

Speaking on behalf of others, the committee Chairperson, Dr. Uche Opara, assured of the two associations working in synergy to accomplish their mandate, while believing that God will grant them the enablement to do so.

National Beam gathered that such committee has been constituted in other parts of the States and some of them have already kicked off with the campaign.
