Barrister Akagburuonye Obioma Success, the President of a dedicated non-governmental organization committed to empowering the youth of Imo State, and Nigeria, through innovative training programs, advocacy for good governance, and grassroots community support; HopeRising for Imolites, has donated a borehole to Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council.
This was in fulfillment of a promise he made to the union during their Press Week in 2023, which he was in attendance.
The project was commissioned by him on Wednesday at the NUJ Press Centre, New Owerri, off Port Harcourt Road.

Akagburuonye popularly addressed as Akaraugo 1 of Mbaise, for his philanthropic nature to not just the council, but the society at large was decorated as the Patron of the Imo NUJ.

This was installed on him by the former NUJ Chairmen, Dr. Fidel Onyeneke, and Chief Christopher Akaraonye who spoke extensively on how the Barrister deserved such honour.
Addressing the people, the HopeRising for Imolites President, averred that he knows how relevant journalists are in the society, which according to him, is why he always tries his best to support them in the best way he could.

While reflecting on how relevant it is for every residence to have water, the Barrister expressed joy over the completion of the project, and prayed that it will make room for more good things to be attracted into the union.
He appreciated the Chairman of Imo NUJ, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwangwuma, other executives, and the whole members of the association for finding him worthy to become the Patron of the council, and promised to always do his best to support them whenever the need arises.
He in the same vein urged the journalists to always put God first in all they do, and to be intentional about taking steps towards the advancement of the profession.

Giving the vote of thanks onbehalf of the Imo NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwangwuma, was the NUJ National Trustee, Sir Innocent Igwe who earnestly lauded Akagburuonye for fulfilling his promise to the union.

He assured him of the union not taking what he has done for granted, adding that they will not fail to keep to his advise of engaging in activities that will propel the progress of the media practitioners, and the profession in general.
The leadership of the union further prayed for God to continue to bless, prosper, and reward the barrister for his humanitarian services.

Chief Barr. Obioma Success Akagburuonye (JP) has made lots of significant contributions to the society. In August 2001, he introduced telephone services to Mbaise, inaugurated by the then Hon. Minister for Communication, Engr. Mohammed Lawal.
He initiated numerous programs aimed at empowering talented youth. He founded the Believers of the Gospel Welfare Foundation in 2001, which was inaugurated by the then Hon. Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Senator Godwin Kanu Agabi.
He annually organized the Akaraugo Football Competition to promote sportsmanship and community spirit.
He holds Bible Quiz and Choral Competition for teenagers, and offering scholarships to winners.
Through the landmark case Engr. Success Obioma vs. Federal Republic of Nigeria on bail (13 WRN 2005), he successfully challenged stringent bail conditions, setting a precedent that has been used to free many awaiting trial.
He facilitated training and employment for graduates from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones through his Relief Centre for Unemployed Graduates, among others
