The Executive Chairman of Onuimo Local Government Area, Hon Dr Emeka Obi has stated clearly that Onuimo Local Government Area is safe for people to visit.
He stated this on Friday December 12th 2025 while addressing members of the Media for Truth and Development who paid him a courtesy visit and gave him an award as best Media and Development friendly local government Chairman in Imo state in his office at Onuimo LGA headquarters.
Dr Obi noted that he had put a lot in place including engaging over three hundred (300) youths as vigilante operators to keep the environment safe for his people.
” Onuimo is safe, secure and the safest local government area in Imo. Come to Onuimo, come with friends and see that the place is peaceful”, Obi stated.
Onuimo LGA boss stated a number of projects which he has built and the ones that are ongoing which has changed the shape of the local government. It includes boreholes, Perimeter fencing , Council hall, Court premises, roads, Sign Posts and solar energy installations across the LGA.
Obi said he has empowered the youths , women and even his aides and councillors by giving everyone what is due to him or her which resulted to the return of peace in Onuimo.
He noted that whenever food and other palliatives are brought to the local government, he ensures it gets to the right people and because of that everyone is happy.
For the award he dedicated it to the Almighty God, his people who elected him and to the Governor of Imo state His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma for giving him the opportunity to serve.
He appreciated members of Media for Truth and Development for the recognizing his efforts and promised to do more for Onuimo and Imo people in general.
Earlier in his address, the Coordinator of Media for Truth and Development, Comrade Dr Austin Okoro noted that the Onuimo LGA Chairman was chosen for the award because of his performances and good will towards his people and members of the public including the media.
He commended the Chairman for his good works and urge him to continue to do more for the people of Onuimo and Imo state in general. He prayed God to bless and sustain him in his future endeavors.
The Chairman in order to prove what he was saying took the media men on facility tour round the Local Government to see things for themselves.
It was gathered by members of the group that the place indeed was peaceful. People where going about their normal businesses. The councillors were sighted undergoing capacity building and training from the National Orientation Agency NOA through the initiative of the Chairman.
The event was witnessed by the leadership of the LGA, the youths and members of the press.
