Obinna Egu, the Imo State House of Assembly has urged Governor Hope Uzodimma to urgently commence the development, building and equipping of an ultra-Modern Skill Acquisition Training Centers in all Government owned Secondary School in the state.

This, he said will aid in developing the entrepreneurial skills of the youths at an early age, adding that most of the youth who are opportuned to attend secondary schools may not have the opportunity to also attend the higher institution, but with the skill they acquire, they can start up something for themselves to even raise funds to further their education.
He continued that it will also reduce over dependency on white collar jobs, further reduce the rate of unemployment in the state, and make the state have more responsible youths that are devoid of constituting nuisance in the society.
Egu pointed out that taking such step will be easier for the Imo State Government as there are such skill trainings he, the governor has already put in place for the youths.
According to him, “The 3R shared prosperity government of His Excellency, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State has shown capacity with a proven track record in providing quality technical education and training to Imolites. A case study is the heavy investment at the Imo State Polytechnics, and the Skill-up Imo Youths Projects ongoing.
“This is a testament of the Governor’s zeal to provide Imo Citizens mostly the Youths, the opportunity to be entrepreneurs and be self reliant for the benefit of the Society.
“Therefore, seeing that greater number of Imo Youths are in secondary schools and most of them may not have access to the ongoing Skill-up Imo Youth Entrepreneurship Trainings, because of time and other factors like location etc, it has become pertinent that such trainings should be domicile in our secondary schools to begin early in inculcating the skills into the youths.
“It is also necessary for the smooth implementation and proper integration of the new Junior Secondary Schools revised curriculum from the federal government,”Egu averred’.

They continued that in time past we had secondary schools with Curriculums that made the youths graduate with diverse skills they used in starting up something for themselves, which according to them reduced the rate of crime in the country.
This, they said should be resurrected to ensure that we have youths that are not whiling away their time waiting for white collar jobs, and having the temptation of engaging in all manner of immoral act.
