Head of Service commends Imo NAWOJ … Says they have changed narrative of Association

The new Head of Service in Imo State Ministry, Chikaodi Emenalom, FCAI JP, has applauded the Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Dr. Dorothy Nnaji, PhD, saying she and her team have given a facelift to the association.

Emenalom made the commendation recently when the Executives of the Association; the Financial Secretary of NAWOJ, Gloria Allison; Treasurer, Chinenye Nwadike; Internal Auditor, Nnaemeka Chinyere; Ex-Offios; Chioma Nkama, and Chinenye Nwokeji, led by its Chairperson, Dr. Nnaji paid her a courtesy visit in her office at the State Secretariat to congratulate her over her appointment, as Head of Service.

Speaking the Head of Service who was one time Chairperson of NAWOJ expressed joy over the visit of the executives, averring that she is a proud mother seeing that NAWOJians are doing well.

She congratulated the new executives of the association, especially the Chairperson, Dr. Nnaji saying that she has from her first tenure followed her activities with kin interest, adding that she is elated to see that she has taken the association to an enviable height.

According to her,”NAWOJ is now recognized everywhere; you collaborate with NGOs, partner with agencies to uplift the living standards of the less privileged persons, and the girl-child, which have not been so from onset when NAWOJ was basically all about courtesy visits, and asking for assistance, among others.

“I can categorically say this because I was one of the persons that began NAWOJ in the state, and I knew everything was then, but now, you and your team have rewritten the narratives of NAWOJ. I am so proud of you, and urged you all to keep up the good work,’Emenalom stated’.

She specially appreciated Governor Hope Uzodimma who she said has been a father to all; civil servants, journalists in the State, and especially to NAWOJ, “for his support to your activities to the extent of giving you a brand new bus. For this, I am grateful to him”.

She also extended her appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Chairman and him team for their support to the association too.

Speaking earlier, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Dorothy Nnaji, stated that it was an Honour for her to stand and address the Head of Service, who she described as a big Sister, a Mentor she admires and will love to wear her shoe someday.

She continued, “The essence of our visit today is to say congratulations to you, a woman who has broken barriers. We are so impressed and excited with His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for given you thie opportunity to ascend to the position of the Head of Service.

“Why am saying this is because, this is the first time a woman journalist of the Information Ministry, and a one time President of NAWOJ will clinch such position, as it used to be an exclusive right of the Administration Officers.

“This has given me and other civil servants the hope that someday we could be in such position.

“So for this, we want to appreciate His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for allowing God use him to bestow this well deserved honour on you.

“This news did not come to us as a surprise for we know you merited it, and the time has also passed when women are less valued for such positions in the state.
