The newly elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), on Monday led several senior party officials to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Garki, Abuja, to file a formal petition against expelled party figures including Senator Samuel Anyanwu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Their visit follows fresh tensions within the opposition party after the Muhammed Abdulrahman-led faction — backed by Wike — announced an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting scheduled for Tuesday.
In a notice issued in Abuja by expelled National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, the factional meetings are slated to take place at the NEC Hall of the PDP’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza.
According to the schedule, the Wike-aligned BoT meeting is set for 11 a.m., while the factional NEC meeting will hold at 2 p.m.
National Beam recalls that at the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Anyanwu, along with high-profile members including Wike and former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, was expelled from the party over allegations of anti-party activities.
