Three Nasarawa Athletes to represent Nigeria at Pan African Games 

Three Nasarawa State’s athletes will be wearing Nigeria’s colours at the forthcoming 13th edition of the African Games slated for Accra, Ghana, between 8th-23rd March, 2024, initially slated for 2023.

 

This was disclosed on Friday in a report made available to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Eche Amos.

 

The athletes are Coach Lois Jerry-tutored Taekwondoist, Louisa Ladi Ihuo(female), and the duo of Coach Kingsley Enyie-tutored Chioma Ani(female) and Saidu Ahmed(male) in the Karate sport events.

 

Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, has sent a congratulatory message, on behalf of the State Government, to the athletes, wishing them success at the multi-sport event.

 

“On behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, and the Government of Nasarawa State, I wish to congratulate our athletes for the wonderful feats.

 

“This is a good development for Nasarawa State because it’s never easy to be picked from a pool of numerous athletes from across the country to represent the Nation at a high level competition like the African Games.

 

“While wishing our athletes and Team Nigeria a Grade ‘A’ performance at the Games, I wish to advice our athletes to be good ambassadors of the State at the Event.

 

“I also wish to reiterate that the Government of Governor Abdullahi Sule will continue to fund sporting activities in the State for optimal performance.”

 

The African Games is a continental multi-sport event held every four years, and it is organized by the African Union with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, ANOCA, and Association of African Sports Confederations, AASC.

Fifty-four African Countries, including Nigeria, will be participating in the quadrennial event.

 

The City of Rabat, Morocco, hosted the last edition in 2019.
