GOMEP Honours FCT Police Commissioner, Hails Security Gains in Abuja

ABUJA — The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP) has honoured the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Mohammed Sanusi, for his outstanding leadership and contributions to improving security and public safety in Abuja.
The recognition was presented during a courtesy visit to the FCT Police Command headquarters by GOMEP’s National President, Comrade Akpovoke Otiti, alongside members of the association’s executive council.
Addressing the Commissioner, Otiti praised Sanusi for the noticeable improvement in security across the nation’s capital since assuming office, noting that Abuja has remained relatively peaceful despite security challenges confronting some parts of the country.
He attributed the progress to the Commissioner’s proactive leadership, intelligence-driven policing strategy, strengthened community engagement, and enhanced collaboration between the police and residents.
According to Otiti, the award serves as a recognition of Sanusi’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, as well as an encouragement for the command to sustain and build on its achievements in crime prevention and public safety.
He urged the Commissioner to continue implementing innovative and proactive policing measures aimed at further strengthening security across the Federal Capital Territory.
In his response, Sanusi reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to fostering a professional, people-centred, and service-oriented policing system capable of effectively meeting the security needs of residents.
The Commissioner also commended GOMEP for its role in promoting responsible journalism through accurate reporting, fact-checking, and balanced coverage of security-related issues and the activities of law enforcement agencies.
Describing the award as a morale booster, Sanusi said the recognition would inspire the command to intensify its efforts in combating crime and maintaining law and order in the FCT.
He further assured residents, investors, and members of the business community of the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information to aid effective policing.
