What Remi Tinubu Said in Imo About Tinubu’s Second Term

OWERRI — Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has revealed why she is asking Nigerians to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu another four years in office — and her explanation goes beyond politics.

Speaking during her visit to Imo State, the First Lady appealed to Nigerians, particularly Catholic women, to continue supporting and praying for the President as his administration pursues its agenda for the country.

According to her, the government began working immediately after taking office and would need a full eight years to complete what it had started.

“By the grace of God, we will all finish our eight years,” she said, while making it clear that there would be no attempt at a third term.

“There is no third term. Just give us a second term,” she added.

The First Lady also urged Catholic mothers to continue praying for President Tinubu, insisting that the administration was not slowing down in its efforts to transform the country.

But it was her personal explanation for why she wants the government to succeed that attracted particular attention.

Remi Tinubu disclosed that she would turn 66 this month and said she was working toward the kind of Nigeria she would want to enjoy in her old age.

“I want to enjoy Nigeria in old age, so I’m working for my old age. That’s why we are doing all we do right now,” she said.

Her comments have added a personal dimension to the administration’s argument for a second term, coming at a time when political conversations around the 2027 presidential election are already gathering momentum.

While the First Lady appealed for continued support, she also acknowledged the importance of prayers and collective efforts toward building a better Nigeria.

She concluded by urging Nigerians to remain hopeful, promising that the government would continue working for the country.
