Alleged Christian Persecution: Ted Cruz Speaks again

United States Senator, Ted Cruz, has alleged that the Nigerian government is fully aware that some of its policies are contributing to what he described as widespread persecution of Christians in the country, yet prefers media manipulation to taking responsibility.

In a statement posted on his X account on Friday, Cruz cautioned that the Nigerian government is engaged in a public-relations campaign aimed at countering the growing allegations of religious persecution.

“Nigerian officials know their policies have created an environment in which Christians are being persecuted and slaughtered, including their enforcement of Sharia law and their tolerance of Islamist violence,” Cruz said, as quoted by Fox News Digital.

“Instead of reversing these policies, they are waging a media campaign to escape exposure and accountability. I intend to prevent them from doing so,” he added.

His remarks follow the recent appearance of Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where he addressed widespread claims of a Christian genocide in the country.

The development also comes weeks after U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” citing persistent violence against Christians and what he described as the government’s failure to safeguard religious minorities.

Trump further disclosed that he had instructed the U.S. Department of Defense to prepare for possible military action should Nigeria “continue to allow the killing of Christians.”

However, the Nigerian government has repeatedly denied any persecution of religious groups, insisting that it remains committed to protecting all citizens regardless of faith.
