BREAKING: Imo Police confirm release of kidnapped former legislator, Ngozi Ogbu

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the release of Hon. Ngozi Ogbu, former legislator who represented the Okigwe State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly.

According to the report made available to newsmen on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, “he regained his freedom last night following intense pressure mounted on his abductors by security operatives”.

The report further revealed that “the Command, in synergy with other security agencies, are working tirelessly to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice”.

The Imo State Police Command also reassured members of the public of their unwavering commitment in sustaining peace and strengthening the security of everyone in the State.

National Beam recalls that Ngozi Ogbu was reportedly abducted on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in Onuimo, on his way to his ancestral home in Okigwe to prepare for the burial of his late mother when gunmen whisked him away into a nearby bush.
