A legal Luminary, and public servant, Comrade Deacon Johnbusco Chimokwu Obodo Esq, JP has expressed interest to contest for the position of an executive Chairman for Oguta Local Government Area in the forth coming Council Election in the State.
Oboro who is running under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has picked the Nomination and Expression of Interest Form for the position.
Speaking to newsmen, he stated, “I have come to use my wealth of experience to better the lots of my people.
“My motivation is that over the years, there has been a neglect when it comes to the aspirations of youths, as most people have seen them to be only good for political thuggery, for social violence and other vices.
“So we have come to let the people know that this is not what the governor thinks or want for the youths of the state for it is his desire that the future generations be preserved, and empowered, which we can see through his empowerment programmes.
“Having been in the state, close to the people, identifying their needs, if by the grace of God I am elected today, we are not coming to start learning what the people needs, because we already know exactly what they yearn for.
“We have come to change the ugly narrative in all stratas of Oguta LGA. Oguta is an LGA blessed with abundance of deposit of gas and oil. The governor has been trying in the area, and has recently signed into Law the Orashi Electricity Regulatory Commission to ensure that the entire state is electrified, and is made to have steady power supply.
“We want to empower the youths to learn digital skills, to know that they can make money with their phones, even from their homes. This will deter them to no longer be available to be used for thuggery.
“Most of the areas in the LGA are suffering from poor infrastructures. For instance, some have not seen electricity in their life time. This I want to change through effective collaboration with our governor.
“We will also make the women understand the need to make use of modern health facilities, especially for child birth. Most of the women are still ignorant of this as they patronize some quack homes which most of them in the course of that have lost their lives or that of their babies. We have come to change such ugly narrative, and give our women proper orientation on it.
“We have large hectares of land, but you see our people not utilizing it, because they are still applying the olden day method of farming; shifting cultivation. So we have come to introduce the mechanised system of farming with improved seedlings which will aid end food scarcity in the state, ‘Oboro stated.’
He therefore called on his people to support his aspiration, saying that they are the most prepared for the office, and are eagerly waiting to hit the ground running with their projects and programmes for Oguta LGA.
