Mbaitoli lawmaker, Innocent Ikpamezie distributes over 2000 bags of rice, cash to constituents for Christmas

The Member representing Mbaitoli State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Innocent Ikpamezie, has distributed large quantities of rice and financial support to his constituents in the spirit of Christmas.

The lawmaker said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effects of the prevailing economic hardship in the country and supporting his people during the festive season.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, Ikpamezie noted that the initiative has become a regular tradition in his constituency.

“You can see that there is little hardship in the country, so I try as much as possible to do this often to support my people. This has been a constant ritual that I observe,” he said.

“I am also doing this because it is what God directed me to do — to make the people happy.”

According to him, the items distributed included 1,500 bags of 10kg rice, 750 bags of 25kg rice, and about 180 bags of 50kg rice, alongside cash support.

Ikpamezie explained that beneficiaries were carefully selected across the 34 autonomous communities in Mbaitoli Local Government Area through ward executives.

He said consultations were held with executives of women groups, men, youths, and special citizens to ensure that the support reached those most in need.

“This is not a party affair; it is for the people of Mbaitoli. Traditional rulers and other community leaders will also have theirs delivered to them,” he added.

In his Christmas message, the lawmaker urged residents to embrace contentment and shun acts capable of leading them into crime.

“Even though there are many needs, everyone should learn to be contented with what they have. It is when people are illegally looking for more that they venture into doing evil. If you have and your neighbour does not, share,” he advised.

He also prayed for God’s protection over the people of Mbaitoli throughout the festive period, expressing hope that there would be no bad news.

The distribution of rice and cash was carried out ward by ward and extended to various groups within the communities.

Beneficiaries expressed joy and appreciation over the lawmaker’s gesture, praying God to bless him and replenish his resources.
