The Imo State House of Assembly members have joined the Ngor Okpala legislator, Rt. Hon. Obinna Egu in applauding Governor Hope Uzodimma over the installation of Night Landing Facilities at the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, in Owerri the State capital.
The motion which was presented by the Ngor Okpala representative during the House plenary on Wednesday, was seconded by the Chief Whip of the House, Rt. Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri, and Co-sponsored by ten other lawmakers.
Presenting the motion, the lawmaker who disclosed that the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport is located in his immediate community, expressed joy saying that he was elated some days ago envisaging some workers at the airport and the people of his community overwhelmed with happiness over the Night Landing Facilities provided by Governor Hope Uzodimma, at the airport.
They, Egu said were not just elated due to the fact that the facility was put in place, but for the commitment, resilience, and political will of the governor in ensuring that it was actualized.
This, the legislator averred will not just boost the overall economic activities of Ngor Okpala LGA, and the state at large, but will solve the major concern of airplanes not being allowed to land at the airport after 6pm.
He continued, “the installation of the Night Landing Facilities at the airport is a commendable initiative that will give the airport an international status, attract more investors in the state, and also facility the movement of persons, goods and services around the area, and the state at virtually all times.
“It enhance the economy of the state, make economic activities around Ngor Okpala LGA to begin flourishing, and also create employment for the people.
“I earnestly thank him Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for being a visionary leader, for having the people at heart, and for the political will to do this.
“In the last for years, Imo State has witnessed massive transformation especially in the area of infrastructural development, human capital development, improved healthcare services, ease of doing businesses, improved welfare packages for civil servants and retirees etc courtesy of Governor Uzodimma’s visionary leadership and prudence in managing men and resources,’Egu stated.
Supporting the motion was the Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chyna Iwuanyanwu; members representing Oru West; Ideato South; Rt. Hon. Johnson Duru Iheonukara, Mbaitoli; Hon. Innocent Ikpamezie, Isiala Mbano; Hon. Sam Osuji; Isu’; Hon. Kingsley Emeka Ozurumba, Orsu; Rt. Hon. Francis Agabige, among others.
They all reiterated the economic importance of the facility in the state, and took turns in pouring encomiums on the governor for it.
