Oru East lawmaker, other legislators congratulate Gov Uzodimma over bagging award of Infrastructural Governor of the Year

The Imo State House of Assembly has congratulated Governor Hope Uzodimma over being recognized as The Infrastructural Governor of the Year, by one of the renowned National Newspapers; Vanguard Newspaper.

As part of the prayer of the motion, they also resolved to write the governor a commendation letter acknowledging his “good works and great Infrastructural strides achieved so far”.

This ensued as the call was made by the Member Representing Oru East State Constituency, and Chief Whip of the House, Rt. Hon Chigozie Nwaneri, during the House plenary on Tuesday, which was seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chyna Iwuanyanwu.

Speaking, the Chief Whip, pointed out that the governor proving his love for the citizens of the state, has done noble in putting in place quality infrastructures especially on the aspect constructing roads that will stand the test of time.

Some of those roads he said includes – the Owerri -Orlu road, Owerri -Okigwe road, Owerri Umuchima road, Awo-Omamma-Okwudor/Okwudor road, Sam Mbakwe Airport road, among others, which he said has been completed while others are still under construction.

Nwaneri continued that the governor has not just fixed the roads, but has also built world class edifice like the Imo State House of Assembly, the almost completed Imo International Convention Center, IICC, the Health Centres in the three Zones of the State, the general Hospitals, and upgrading of Imo Concord Hotel, among others.

These projects he said has occasioned economic growth, improved road connectivity, reduced travel time and facilitated commerce which has translated to a better standard of living for the people of the state.

He therefore averred, “the exploits done in the infrastructural development in Imo State by His Excellency, Dist. Sen. (Dr.) Hope Uzodimma has attracted the attention of the Media and general public including the International Communities, which has giving rise to many prestigious Awards bestowed on him, especially the recent one from the Vanguard Newspapers Ltd as “The Infrastructure Governor of the Year” chosen from among all the 36 Governors in Nigeria.

“The Award is a testament to His Excellency’s commitment to delivering sustainable, durable and high quality infrastructure across the State which has repositioned Imo State as a prime destination for investors entrepreneurs and businesses seeking a conducive environment to thrive,’ Nwaneri stated’.

He noted that it is a well deserved award, for the governor has proven that he is not like other governors who will stop working in their second tenure, because they know they will not return to such position again.

Supporting the motion was – the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chyna Iwuanyanwu, Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Sam Osuji, Minority Leader, Rt. Hon. Princewill Amuchie, Members Representing; Oguta; Hon. Gilbert Nwosu, Mbaitoli; Hon. Innocent Ikpamezie, Nkwerre; Hon. Chisom Ojukwu, Orsu; Rt. Hon. Francis Agabige.

Others were: Ezinihitte lawmaker; Hon. Henry Agbasonu, Ideato North; Hon. Okechukwu Udeze, Ikeduru; Hon johnleoba Iheoha, Ohaji Egbema; Hon. Francis Osuoha, Isu; Hon. Kingsley Ozurumba, and Orlu, Hon. Ikenna Ihezuo.

They reiterated that the governor is worth congratulating as he has not just done well in road infrastructures, but socially and economically.

They noted that for the social infrastructure that he has totally reformed the Civil Service in the state, and partnering with the House to ensure their are steady power supply in the state.

They continued that economically he has engaged in several youth empowerment programmes; the SkillupImo, and the likes. “even in Education Imo is ranking number one statistically as our institutions are equipped to standards, and our universities accredited.

They therefore applauded the Oru East legislator for presenting such motion, saying it was a timely one.

As there was no one against the motion, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, put the motion to vote and the Ayes had it.

He further directed the Clerk to convey the House resolution to the governor.
