The management of Owerri Club Aladinma Owerri has debunked the rumors of high handedness, and other alleged corrupt practices against the management team and Chairman of the Club, Chief Charles Okeke (Odiuko Orsu).
Chief Okeke in a chat with our correspondent described the report which emanated from some newspapers in Imo State as an unfounded, unverified and an untrue reportage, maintaining that under his watch the club has been revolutionized.
He expressed dismay that the vision of Owerri Club as a premier Club has been misdirected by certain persons who he said has refused the club to grow, lamenting that some old members have refused to incorporate the younger members into the club.
In his words,” what they are fighting is paradigm shift some old people still want to use our club as old people’s home. I brought in younger people to bring a new face to the club. The members have voted me, and I want to bring the club to limelight, ‘Okeke expressed.
He said the propagator of the news do not mean well for the club considering the timing which coincided with the upcoming induction, Investiture and inauguration ceremony.
The Owerri Club Chairman, maintained that he is the head of the management committee, and that every decision they take is signed by the committee members before it is carried out .
Speaking on the suspension of some members of the club, Chief Okeke said, ” the suspended members went against the club rules. When you take a club to the police according to the law you are no more a member, until the club decide to readmit you. It is the decision of the management to give the club a new face as obtained in the digital age, which did not go down well with members I describe as the old school, Okeke stated’.
He further recalled that since his assumption of office that there has been tremendous changes in the arena.
Meanwhile, the management, trustees , patrons and members of the club will hold her inauguration cum investiture ceremony tomorrow, at Owerri Club Aladinma.
The event will showcase the induction of some Distinguished members as His Excellency Sen.Hope Uzodimma (onwa oyoko) will be among the personalities to be inaugurated, the event is also expected to be graced by other high profiled dignitaries from within and outside Imo state.
