“Portable Walks Free After One Week in Custy, Rebrands Himself ‘Innocenty’ in Viral Comeback”

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has regained his freedom after spending about a week in police custody.

National Beam reports that the street-hop star was arraigned on January 12 before a Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun State, over allegations of assault, theft, causing harm and resisting arrest.

Portable was also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 said to be worth about ₦12 million.
At the time, the court refused him bail after the police officer handling the case failed to appear, leading to his continued detention.

However, following his release, a viral video surfaced online showing the singer surrounded by his associates, who jubilantly welcomed him back.

In the clip, Portable excitedly announced a new nickname for himself, saying, “My name is now Innocenty,” as his supporters cheered him on.

Reacting to the development, Portable’s manager, Baby Luv, took to Instagram to thank the singer’s first wife, Bewaji, for standing firmly by him during the ordeal.
Sharing a photo of Portable and Bewaji, she wrote, “All glory to God. Grace spoke, mercy prevailed. #Freedom. She stayed when it was hardest. God honoured her faith. #Thankful.”

This is not the first time Portable has faced detention. Since his rise to fame in 2022, the singer has reportedly been arrested, arraigned and remanded more than eight times across correctional facilities in Kwara, Ogun and Lagos states.
