Imo LG Election: ISIEC gives Chairmen-elect, their Vice Certificates of Return

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC has issued Certificate of Return to the All Progressive Congress, APC Council Chairmen-elect who were announced to have won the just concluded Local Government Election which took place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in the state.

The Vice Chairmen were also handed theirs.

The ceremony which held at the ISIEC Office in Owerri, the State capital was carried out by the Chairman of the Commission, Chief Charles Ejiogu.

Ejiogu while addressing the candidates, party members, security agents, and other dignitaries that were present to witness the process, further disclosed that the Councillors will be issued their Certificates of Return in the next couple of days

According to him, “By virtue of the constitution; Law No. 14 of 2000 as amended, the commission has just discharged its duty of conducting a credible election in the state.

“Also in consonance with other relevant provisions of the Law of the Electoral Act, and other enactments, ISIEC has come to execute another mandate of issuing Certificates of Return to the Council Chairmen, and their Vice.

“The Councillors will receive theirs in the next couple of days.

“What has just happened in Imo State is a concrete demonstration of the will and determination of the people to express themselves democratically in an atmosphere devoid of bitterness, and rancho, as the Saturday election was very peaceful, free, fair, transparent, and credible.

“I congratulate the candidates and wish them well as they assume office to begin discharging their duties, ‘Ejiogu averred’

Also speaking, an APC Chieftain, and former State Chairman of the Party, Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo commended Ejiogu saying that ISIEC has done noble in the discharge of their duties.

Nlemigbo also lauded the security agents who he said played their part in ensuring there is orderliness in the state.

He further lauded the Governor of the State “for creating an enabling environment for the election to take place”

He therefore urged the chairmen to endeavor to judiciously discharge their responsibilities, not to disappoint in the confidence reposed on them by the people who he asserted gave them, the candidates their mandate.

It would be recalled that on Sunday, September 22, 2024, the Chairman of ISIEC, Chief Charles Ejiogu announced the result of the just concluded Council Election conducted in the state, where it was disclosed that the APC candidates won in all the 27 LGAs and 305 Wards in the state, for both the Council Chairman position, and that of the Councillors respectively.

3. Okigwe –Nkechi Mbonu

4. Oguta – Ifeanyi Nani

5. Orsu – Friday Ibakaeme

8. Ihitte Uboma – Obioha Ndukwe

9. Obowo – Obioma Iroegbu Johnson

10. Ideato South – Okechukwu Okwara

11. Ohaji/Egbema – Marcellinus Chinasa Amadi

12. Isiala Mbano – Chika Isreal Okoroike

13. Ahiazu Mbaise – Larry Obinna Chikwe

14. Aboh Mbaise – Chief Iheukwumere Alaribe Henry
