Veteran Nollywood actor and producer, Solomon Akiyesi, has passed away.
His death was confirmed on Monday by the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu, in a statement to The Cable Lifestyle. According to Yakubu, the actor died in his sleep on Sunday.
“He slept and did not wake up,” Yakubu said, adding that Akiyesi’s remains have been deposited in a morgue in Abuja.
The guild president noted that further details surrounding the circumstances of his death are still being awaited from the actor’s family.
Akiyesi, a native of Ososo in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, began his Nollywood career in the late 1990s and featured in over 100 films during his lifetime.
He was widely recognised for his roles in movies such as Marry Who You Love, Kiss My Pain, Joy of Nakasha, Heart of a Saint, Deadly Affair, Gen Z Wife, Olaedo The Fisher Girl, Pretty Liars, The End Is Near, and Desperate Ladies.
Since news of his passing broke, tributes have continued to pour in across social media, with colleagues and fans mourning the loss of the seasoned actor.
