APC Screens Out Alleged Fubara Loyalists From Rivers Assembly Primaries

The national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified dozens of aspirants believed to be loyal to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, from participating in the party’s 2027 State House of Assembly primaries.
According to a screening list released by the party, over 60 aspirants across different constituencies in Rivers State were not cleared for the primaries, with many reportedly linked to Fubara’s political camp amid the ongoing power struggle in the state.
Among those disqualified are Berebupakabo Isaac Sekibo, Tamunodiepriye Fubara Goodluck Ohaka, Tonye Garrick Tom-George, Prince Emukighro Fubara, and Tamunobaraiba George.
The affected constituencies include Okrika, Khana, Omuma, Ahoada East, Obio/Akpor, Ikwerre, Andoni, and Akuku-Toru.
Meanwhile, the APC cleared 33 aspirants to contest the assembly primaries, many of whom are believed to be allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Those cleared include Maol Dumle, Tonye Smart Adoki, Kenneth Minimah, Justina Aniton Okorji, and Arnold O. Davids.
The latest development follows the earlier disqualification of several aspirants aligned with Fubara from the APC’s Senate and House of Representatives primaries in Rivers State.
