APC Disqualifies 47 Aspirant From 2027 Senate Primaries

 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified 47 senatorial aspirants from participating in its Senate primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

 

The party disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, following the conclusion of the screening exercise conducted by the party’s screening committees.

 

According to the APC, the screening process was carried out in line with the party’s established procedures and guidelines.

 

Among the notable aspirants denied clearance is former Bayelsa East senator, Ben Murray-Bruce. Also affected in the same district is Benson Agadaga.

 

Rivers West Senatorial District recorded the highest number of disqualified aspirants, with four prominent names failing to secure clearance. They include Oyukaye Flag Amachree, Tamunobaabo Wemike Danagogo, Jack-Rich Tein, and Banigo Ipalibo.

 

Zamfara State also recorded a significant number of disqualifications, with seven aspirants across the Central, North, and West senatorial districts failing the screening process.

 

The ruling party, however, did not disclose the reasons behind the disqualification of the affected aspirants.

 

States Affected By The Disqualification

The affected aspirants are from several states, including Adamawa, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, FCT, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Taraba, Yobe, and Zamfara.

The development comes amid ongoing political realignments and heightened competition within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
