The church members, friends and well wishers also rolled out en mass to make their own donations.

In response, Bishop Athan Azubuike who thanked God for making the day a reality, expressed joy saying that he was highly honoured by what the people had done.

He prayed that the Lord will bless them all and replenish their pockets.

He in the same vein advised Imo people asserting, “Imolites should understand that we must have a cohesion, an understanding that everyone has something he can do for Imo to be better”.

For Nigerians he advised: “the greatest thing is that children of God must learn how to honour God with their resources. Today, the internet has been awash with lots of critics who speak against giving to the body of Christ; against tithing, against men of God, others, but they don’t criticize going for a comedy show and paying up to millions for a table of five persons.

“When people love and care for their pastor, it becomes a taboo but you see people loving and fighting for football players from foreign countries who does not even know that they exist, and that one is not a taboo. Why can’t we replicate the same thing in the House of God, and also fight for God.

“So my appeal is that people should stop criticizing pastors, and understand that where there is original there is fake. Fake is everywhere, and not just in the church. I am proud to be a Christian, and will remain so, ‘ Bishop Athan advised’.

Adding his voice, Okey Onyemachi, a guest Minister who said the Bishop is his bossom friend, thanked God for the service, saying that it was a special service indeed as the awesome presence of God was felt.

He toed the line of the Bishop’s advise, appealing to Nigerians to stop ignorantly speaking ill about the things that pertains to God.
