Imo Local Govt Council Polls: Osuebi Salutes Uzodimma For Upholding Charter Of Equity, Zoning

A Councilorship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress, APC from the marginalized Azara bloc in Umunoha/Azara ward, Mbaitoli LGA of Imo state,Barr.Justin Osuebi,has showered praises on the Governor of Imo state,Sen.Hope Uzodimma for reiterating the importance of zoning and equity in the awaited Local Government Council Elections scheduled for September, 21,2024 in the state.

Reacting to the recent pronouncement by the Governor,Sen.Uzodimma on the need to uphold zoning arrangement in the election,Barr.Osuebi, said that it is a most welcome development owing to the fact, according to him, that zoning creates equi-balance, peace and harmony among people of a given geo-political entity, adding that the pronouncement by Gov.Uzodimma, the apex leader of APC in the state is a clear indication that equity, fairness and justice must prevail in the Umunoha/Azara ward’s Councilorship Election.

Barr.Osuebi further stated that Gov.Uzodimma’s stand on zoning and equity will certainly allay the fear of marginalisation by the minority groups in the geo-political wards across the state, especially the people of Azara-Obiato in Umunoha/Azara ward of Mbaitoli LGA, among others.

Also commending the Governor for admonishing aspirants to embrace the charter of equity in the electoral process,the Legal Luminary, maintained that zoning formula should be respected to ensure equity, justice and fairness,while appealing for the urgent need to address concerns about unethical practices,as well as condemned the use of oaths or local charms to secure electoral victories as the Governor had earlier warned.

Insisting that equity and zoning brings about presentation of consensus aspirant(s) or candidate(s) in periodic elections,he however used the opportunity in relaying his heartfelt congratulatory message to Gov.Uzodimma and the Deputy Governor,Lady Chinyere Ekomaru on their deserving victory at the Supreme Court, describing the victory as a victory for the people of Imo state, and shared prosperity sake.

It would be recalled that Azara bloc in Umunoha/Azara ward has not fielded Councilor of the ward since the creation of Imo state in 1976 till date, barely 48 years ago.
