FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has issued a fresh warning to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election, declaring that he intends to make things even tougher for the opposition figures.
Wike made the remarks on Friday in Abuja while speaking with journalists during an inspection of infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory.
The former Rivers State governor said he was not concerned about how Atiku and Obi were coping with the political challenges confronting them, adding that his priority was to make the opposition uncomfortable ahead of the election.
“I don’t want them to feel well. My job is to make them feel unwell all day because they will have high blood pressure,” Wike said.
He further insisted that Nigeria currently has no clear leading opposition party, arguing that the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had weakened its position.
According to him, the opposition figures were primarily focused on remaining politically relevant rather than presenting a formidable challenge to the ruling party.
Wike stressed that political contests were not about making opponents comfortable, but about defeating them decisively.
“I’m not here to make them feel well,” he said, adding that he would continue to make things “even harder” for Atiku and Obi.
In a striking remark, Wike declared that if he knew exactly how the two opposition leaders were feeling, he would “add more crises for them.”
His comments have added another dramatic layer to the increasingly heated political battle ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
