What PDP Chieftain Just Revealed About Jonathan’s 2027 Ambition Sparks Fresh Controversy

A fresh twist has emerged over the reported 2027 presidential ambition of former President Goodluck Jonathan, following claims by the South East Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ray Nnaji, that the ex-leader has not obtained the party’s nomination form.
Speaking during a radio programme on DreamFM in Enugu, Nnaji dismissed reports suggesting Jonathan had entered the race, insisting that political actors were only using the former president’s name to play “games.”
According to him, Jonathan merely stated he was consulting and has never officially declared interest in the 2027 presidency.
He further alleged that some individuals were making financial gains by spreading claims that Jonathan had purchased the PDP nomination form and had already been screened.
“Jonathan has not said he is running. These are gimmicks. Some people are using his name for political games and financial benefits. Security agencies should investigate the matter,” he said.
Nnaji also warned Jonathan against contesting the 2027 election, arguing that such a move could damage the goodwill he earned after peacefully handing over power following his defeat as an incumbent president.
Meanwhile, the PDP chieftain denied reports of a faction within the party in Enugu State.
He maintained that there was only one recognised governorship candidate, Uche Nnaji, adding that Samson Nnamani had been suspended for alleged anti-party activities after violating provisions of the PDP constitution.
According to him, the party’s National Working Committee cleared both aspirants initially, but Nnamani was later suspended after petitions were filed against him and he allegedly failed to defend himself before the party.
Nnaji said the governorship primary conducted by officials from Abuja produced Uche Nnaji as the valid candidate, stressing that the names of successful candidates had already been forwarded to INEC.
